Stating that allocation of kerosene by the Central Government to the States under Public Distribution System is for the people without any interference, RTI activist Wahengbam Joykumar has termed the verbal feud between Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan and CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam in media over monthly allocation of kerosene under PDS as unfortunate .
MLA Joykisan had alleged that CAF&PD allocated 2500 litres of kerosene monthly to the MLAs against 3000 litres as per an order issued by the Assembly Secretariat .
Dismissing the allegations, CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam had clarified that there is no such order as claimed by the MLA .
Wahengbam Joykumar said that in the State of Manipur, MLAs are provided allocation of excess kerosene by the Government .
He said that the way for monthly allocation of kerosene to the MLAs is not feasible and as such the State Government should review it .
Asking as to where does the MLAs utilise the monthly allocation of excess kerosene allocated by the Government, he suspected corruption in the monthly allocation of kerosene to the MLAs .
Referring to the report tabled by the Supreme Court appointed Central Vigilance Committee headed by retired Justice DP Wadhwa, the RTI activist said that the Central Government spent more than Rs 28, 000 crore in a year in distributing PDS items to the people of the country at subsidised rates.
