COVID-19 vaccination / awareness programme held

A Covid vaccination cum awareness on vaccination was held today at CHC Nambol.
The programme was attended by Dr K Rajo Singh, director, Health Services Manipur; Dr L Gojendro Singh, CMO, Bishnupur; Dr Nandakishore, state immunisation officer and Dr Jujurani Asem, SPO, UNDP as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme Dr L Gojendro said he was the first from the district to be inoculated with Covid vaccine and he faced no difficulties or adverse effects of the vaccines and informed the attendees that their was nothing to be afraid of the vaccine as it Was safe and tested.
He added that his family have also been vaccinated.
The virus has claimed the lives of many and there is no saying when the world will be free of the virus, so we all should come forth and get vaccinated when the time come, he added.
Dr K Rajo said the second wave has already begun in the world and some states were showing signs of increased number of positive case and the programme was part of the mass drive to organised awareness programme as well as vaccinate maximum number of people in the state and to give awareness about observing Covid appropriate behaviour to stay safe.
He added that at present all persons above 45 years are being vaccinated at Government as well as private medical facilities with nominal charges at the later and free of cost at Government facilities.
He clarified that more than 7 crore people have been vaccinated in the country including 84000 persons who have got first dose and 35000 persons who have got the second dose from the State.
He reiterated that the vaccine was safe and tested and there was no need to worry about the vaccine.
He urged every eligible person to get vaccinated before the second wave hits the state.
