Hit and run along NH-2 lands a Daili youth in hospital

Kangpokpi, April 05 2021:
Yet in another hit and run case occurred today along the National Highway 2 in Daili village, a youth from Daili village was hospitalized in a critical condition.
The incident happened at around 5:45 pm at Daili village along the Imphal-Dimapur road when a White Maruti Van fled towards Imphal after hitting the youth.
According to one of the victim's friends who was with him at the time of the incident, no other vehicles were there on the road when the van coming down from Senapati side hit the victim when he along with two of their friends were walking down the road.
He continued that the van drove away at high speed after the incident and they immediately informed the Kangpokpi police and rushed the injured victim to District Hospital Kangpokpi.
The injured victim was identified as Kaihrii (24) S/o A Pfokrelo of Daili village.
The doctors at District Hospital Kangpokpi referred the injured victim to Imphal owing to his critical condition.
Meanwhile, Daili Village Authority, Daili Women Society, Daili Your Club and Daili Students' Union appealed to the authority concerned to locate the vehicle and book the van driver at the earliest" .
The Kangpokpi Youth Union also extended their solidarity and cooperation towards the Daili bodies and urged the concerned authority to initiate all possible means to locate the vehicle and nab the driver for further legal action.
The Union also said that such hit and run cases have been increasing tremendously along the highway since the past months and unless the accused of such hit and run cases are arrested and appropriate actions are initiated, it will keep increasing day by day.
