Two Samarjit supporters sent to jail

Two of the group of people who shouted slogans in support of former Salai Holdings Pvt Ltd Chairman and self proclaimed External Affairs and Defence Minister of the alleged de jure Government (Government-in-exile) Narengbam Samarjit have been sent to jail while seven others have been released on bail.
Nine persons who raised slogans in support of Samarjit and obstructed security personnel from doing their duty were produced before the Court of CJM, Imphal West today.
After hearing both the prosecutor and counsels appearing on behalf of the nine accused who sought bail, the Court remanded two of the accused to judicial custody for 15 days till April 19 .
The Court further ordered release of the seven other accused on furnishing PR bonds of Rs 50,000 each and similar surety bonds.
The two individuals who have been sent to judicial custody are Narengbam Biswajit (55) s/o N Jogendrakumar of Tera Loukrakpam Leikai and Mayanglambam Tollenjao Singha (55) s/o late M Konungjao Singha of Bamon Leikai, Hailakandi, Assam but presently staying at Lamboi Khongnangkhong Veterinary Leirak.
Notably, Narengbam Biswajit is elder brother of Samarjit and a member of the board of directors of Salai Holdings Pvt Ltd.
Mayanglambam Tollenjao is a general secretary of NEIDP, a regional political party established at the initiative of Samarjit.
The seven accused who have been granted bail are Naoroibam David (23) s/o Indramani of Naoremthong Khumanthem Leikai, Narengbam Nonglen (25) s/o Biswajit of Tera Loukrakpam Leikai, Narengbam (O) Tilotama (39) w/o Samarjit, Narengbam (O) Ranjana (52) w/o Biswajit, Narengbam (N) Naoroibam (O) Medhabati (63) w/o Indramani of Naoremthong Khumanthem Leikai, Mutum (N) Chongtham (O) Chitramala (43) w/o Ch Dayananda of Sagolband Tera Amudon Akham Leikai and Chongtham Utara (39) w/o Ch Rishikanta alias Sana of Sagolband Tera Amudon Akham Leikai.
All the nine individuals were accused of shouting in support of Samarjit apart from obstructing security personnel for discharging their duties when Samarjit was led out of Imphal Airport on March 29 .
Biswajit and Tollenjao were also accused of having knowledge of the past activities of Samarjit.
Notably, Narengbam Samarjit (47) of Tera Loukrakpam Leikai and Yambem Biren (64) of Tera Khongshangbi Leimaram Leirak held a press meet in London on October 29, 2019 .
It was during this particular press meet that the duo announced separation of Manipur from India and establishment of the Manipur State Council (Government-in-exile) .
While Yambem Biren claimed that he was the Chief Minister of the Manipur State Council, Samarjit said that he was the External Affairs and Defence Minister.
Following the declaration, a case was registered at Lamphel police station.
Acting at the instruction of the Ministry of Home Affairs, NIA took up another case against them.
NIA submitted a charge sheet against five persons including Yambem Biren and Samarjit in connection with the same case at the NIA Special Court, Imphal in March this year before Samarjit was arrested by NIA from IGI Airport, New Delhi on March 25 .
