RIMS increases COVID beds to 224

Imphal, June 02 2021:
The number of COVID-19 beds in RIMS hospital has been increased from 143 to 224, according to director Prof A Santa Singh.
He made this announcement during the inauguration of RIMS New Staff Canteen near Neuro ICU (2nd floor) on Wednesday.
Prof Santa said that the number of beds for COVID-19 patients has been increased to cater to the increasing number of Covid cases in the state.
The number of ICU beds for COVID-19 patients has also been increased from 12 to 40 including 10 beds in NICU.
While 30 beds are reserved for COVID positive pregnant women in the Gynae ward, one separate ICU bed will be earmarked for dialysis patient, he added.
In a release, RIMS media advisor N Phillip Singh informed that the Department of Psychiatry and Department of Clinical Psychology will operate its Counselling Helpline for healthcare workers and general public on all working days from 10 am to 3 pm.

The inauguration programme was attended by medical superintendent Prof H Priyosakhi Devi, principal of Dental College & College of Nursing, head of departments, faculty members, deputy director (Admn), officials from Central Workshop of RIMS Imphal, member of the RIMS Patient Welfare Committee Ng Nongyai Singh and Laimayum Basanta Sharma, said the release.
