Land allotted for new State Bhavan at Bangalore

In response to a request made by Chief Minister of Manipur O Ibobi Singh regarding allotment of land for construction of a Manipur Bhavan at Bangalore, the Government of Karnataka has approved the allotment of 10,781.63 Square metres (a little over 2.5 acres) of land at the upcoming Sir M Vishveshwariah Layout.
According to a statement issued by Dr..VRamakantha, Addl.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Liaison Officer, Government of Manipur, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), which is in charge of the site allotment in the city, in its meeting held on the 18thJanuary 2013, approved the allotment of this land on lease for 30 years to the Government of Manipur at the Civic Amenity Site Rate (CA Site Rate).
The issue was discussed and re-ratified in the meeting of the BDA held on the 5thFebruary 2013 .
The Sir M Vishveshwariah Layout is not far from the Jnana Bharathi (Bangalore University) Campus and the Manipur Bhavan will be constructed in Plot No.11 of the 5th block of the above mentioned layout.
Dr Ramakantha said that the Government of Manipur has a vision not only to construct a Manipur Bhavan, but also a Manipuri Community Centre which will include a spacious hall for social gathering and celebrations, and an auditorium.
Besides, the Government will also be creating a facility in the form of a Ladies Transit Hostel and permanent display place for Manipuri handloom and handicraft products.
