The national Disease Reporting System (NDRS) has been formally launched in the state today by Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Director Saidkhum Joute.
The NDRS is a National project of Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries under the Ministry of Agriculture with its software developed jointly by the National Informatics Centre and public telecom company BSNL.
According to Director, disease Investigation Laboratory Dr Ng Ibotombi, launch of the NDRS in the State will facilitate the Sanjenthong hospital of State's Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Directorate to get detailed information in case there is any animal-related disease outbreak anywhere in the country.
NDRS project components were also launched simultaneously at district veterinary offices and at the block level.
Dr Ibotombi also explained that launch of the project will facilitate the State to promptly send report about animal diseases, if any, unlike the past when compilation and sending reports used to be on monthly basis.
Apart from Veterinary and Animal Husbandry officials, representatives of NIC and BSNL were also present at the simple project launch ceremony held this afternoon.
