COVID-19 positive cases cross 1000 mark

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the State has crossed 1000 mark with 90 samples testing positive during the last 24 hours.
Whereas the total number positive cases stands at 1075, a three year baby (girl) who tested positive for the virus has been put under oxygen therapy.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 90 samples were tested positive for the contagion at JNIMS and RIMS during the last 24 hours.
Of the 90 people who have been tested positive, two each belong to Thoubal, Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Senapati, one to Kangpokpi, 55 to Tamenglong and 12 to Ukhrul district.
It is said that all of them came back recently from different parts of the country.
Further, 15 samples were tested positive at RIMS late night today.
Nine of them are residents of Thoubal while one belongs to Kamjong and five to Ukhrul.
Meanwhile, 31 people have recovered from the contagion.
Following their recovery, five patients were discharged from Churachandpur district hospital, 16 from UNACCO COVID Care Centre and 10 from RIMS.
Further, 13 people who have been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 tested negative today and they would be discharged tomorrow.
On the other hand, a three year old girl who has been taken to RIMS from UNACCO COVID Care Centre has been put on oxygen therapy after she complained of breathing difficulty.
The girl's mother tested negative for the contagion.
All the 55 people belonging to Tamenglong district who have been tested positive were staying in the quarantine centre opened at United Builder School, Tamenglong district headquarters.
Out of 133 people staying in the quarantine centre, 107 have tested positive for COVID-19.Some of the inmates are mischievous and defiant and they use intoxicants.
There were cases of inmates leaving the quarantine centre on two-wheelers and of smuggling ganja into the quarantine centre, according to information received from Tamenglong district administration.
Following detection of such a high number of positive cases in a single quarantine centre, authorities have started monitoring the quarantine centre very stringently.
Six inmates left in the quarantine centre were shifted to Don Bosco Holy Trinity before the whole premises of United Builder School was sanitised.
