Brown sugar seized

A combined team of Tengnoupal commandos and Tengnoupal police seized substances suspected to be brown sugar at around 9.30 am today between Loisi village and Saivom village along Imphal Moreh Road.
The items weighing 474 gram packed in 43 soap cases were found concealed in a bag inside a Tata Safari which tried to evade the police but was chased down by the combined team led by ASP (Ops) Tengnoupal, Th Krisnatombi.
The team were waiting for the vehicle at Loisi village acting on reliable information, said SP Tengnoupal Ibomcha in a media briefing.
The vehicle tried to escape when the team signalled it to stop but were held before they reached Saivom village after being pursued.
One among the three persons in the vehicle one managed to escape while the team was trying to stop the vehicle and conduct a thorough search, the SP continued.
Two others identified as Letkhohem Haokip (36), son of Lhunjang Haokip Paomol of Motbung, Sapermeina and Mangminlen Haokip (25) son of Paoson Haokip Kotlen of Kangpokpi, along with the seized items have been handed over to Tengnoupal police station for further legal proceedings.
The team which were able to catch the suspected drug peddlers along the items were also encouraged with cash reward by
the SP .
