Govt's door open 24x7 to all people: CM

Speaking about the various schemes designed for the common people by both the Central and State Govern-ments, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has conveyed that the Government opens its door round the clock to extend every possible support to uplift the lives of the people.
He made the statement during distribution of farm machinery and equipment under the Sub-Mission of Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM), 2019-20, to farmers at an event organised at Iboyaima Sumang Leela Shanglen, today, under the aegis of the Department of Agriculture.

Speaking as the chief guest at the function, Biren remarked that the people of Manipur are hard-working and endowed with immense talents.
If the people work with sincerity and honesty than there is nothing that cannot be achieved, he said, adding that there is economic growth in Manipur and the State is marching ahead as evidenced by remarkable growth of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) during the last few years.
Highlighting the rising demands of traditional 'Chak-hao' outside Mani-pur, the Chief Minister exhorted the farmers to put their efforts towards increasing Chak-hao production, to cater to the growing demands.
Elaborating on the importance of proper irrigation facilities to increase food grain production in the State, he said that Thoubal Multipurpose Project will be completed soon and it will provide irrigation facility to different areas of the State.
The Chief Minister said that around 500 places have been identified for ground water management projects in the State.
The project cost amounting to around Rs 275 crore, has been submitted to the concerned ministry, he informed, mentioning that around 280 check dams would be constructed across streams at different foothills, for drinking and irrigation purposes.
In this regard, a project of estimated cost Rs 475 crore has been submitted to the Ministry, Biren added.
The Chief Minister continued that the Government would give priority to the development of tourism, agriculture and horticulture sectors this year.
There is a steep increase in the arrival of foreign and domestic tourists in the State in the last 2-3 years.
According to reports, around 10,000 foreign tourists and 1.5 lakh domestic tourists have visited the State in a year, he added.
Biren maintained that the State Government fully endorsed the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas' to bring inclusive development in the State.
Apart from the welfare schemes launched by the Central Government, the State Government has also introduced various welfare schemes for the people.
The Government opens its door 24x7 to extend every possible support to uplift the lives of the people, Biren assured.
On the other hand, Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian said that the Government has introduced various schemes for doubling agricultural production by 2022 and appealed to the people and farmers to put collective efforts towards increasing agricultural production.
He then thanked the CM, officers and staff of the Department and the farmers of the State whose efforts have made it possible for the State to achieve the Krishi Karman Award 2017-18 .
Around 139 machinery and equipment, including tractors, power tillers, reapers, threshers, mini-rice mill etc were distributed to the selected beneficiaries during the event.
Minister for PHED Losii Dikho, Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board S Rajen, Vice-Chairman MIDA O Lukhoi, Commissioner (Agriculture) Kh Raghumani, Director (Agriculture) Laltanpuii Vanchhong, officers and staff of Agriculture Department, farmers and others attended the function.
