Two State boys to get bravery award

Imphal, January 18 2016:
Two boys from Manipur namely Maurice Yengkhom (14) S/o Yengkhom Zunu of Yaiskul and Chongtham Kuber Meitei (12) S/o Chongtham Tomba Meitei of Tera Loukrakpam Leikai are among 25 children including 3 girls selected for the National Bravery Awards 2015 .
The children will receive the award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 24, 2016, and later will participate in Republic Day Parade at Rajpath, New Delhi on January 26 .
Maurice Yengkhom, on March 8, 2015 was playing with 13 year old Hijam Rodin and five other cousins on the terrace of their building.
While playing, Maurice realized that Rodin had been struck by an electric current, probably through a naked wire.

Maurice tried to pull Rodin but was thrown back due to electric shock.
Doing quick thinking and having presence of mind, Maurice used a broken cane chair and hit Rodin with it, thereby freeing him from electric current.
In an interaction with Lt Col Ajay Kumar Sharma, PRO, MoD, Manipur, Officer-in-Charge Republic Day parade commentary in New Delhi, Maurice said, "At that point of time (when he was trying to help Robin) I was just thinking of doing something fast to save Rodin and the thought of danger to my own life did not come to my mind" .
Maurice aspires to be an engineer.
Kuber saved a 12-year old girl from drowning on March 8, 2015 .
In the interaction, Kuber said his ambition is to become an Army officer.
