Imphal, January 18 2016:
A Joint Action Committee (JAC) has been constituted after one Laishram (O) Sorojini of Ningthoukhong Ward No 1 Awang Khunou was physically assaulted by some persons led by a defeated BJP candidate.
JAC president RK (O) Tombisana who is also secretary of the Women Development Committee, Ningthoukhong told media persons at Manipur Press Club here today that necessary punitive measures should be initiated against BJP candidate Angom Tombi (54), her son Deepak (30), daughters Abe (26) and Sonia (21) .
As Sorojini sustained serious injuries, she has been currently undergoing treatment at Shija hospital.
Even as police registered a case and were enquiring into the matter, BJP State unit president Th Chaoba and an MLA came to the hospital and the police station with a motive to project Sorojini as the culprit.
Such a conspiracy is unbecoming of a political leader, said Tombisana.
Defeated Tombi was picking up quarrels after singling out people whom she suspected did not vote for her.
She said that local womenfolk would take up befitting action against Tombi.
After severely assaulting Sorojini, Tombi, her son and daughters allegedly boasted that 'their Minister' cannot harm them.
Th Chaoba was over-reacting by bringing in the name of Minister Govindas Konthoujam into the matter, Tombisana added.
