Kolkata, October 29:
The Government would take into consideration the ceasefire agreement with the two NSCN factions in the event of a joint operation with Myanmar to flush out insurgents operating from there.
"We have a ceasefire agreement with the NSCN (IM) and NSCN (K).
We will definitely keep the agreement with these groups in mind if at all a joint operation is launched in the Indo-Myanmar border areas," Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee said here today.
He, however, said that no decision has been taken on launching a joint military operation during the visit of Myanmars top leader Senior General Than Shwe.
"Such decisions are taken at the delegation level," he added.
Mukherjee said other insurgent outfits like the PLA, ULFA, some Kuki groups, as also those which fomented trouble in Tripura before fleeing to Myanmar could be targeted during the operations.
He also expressed his happiness with Shwes assertion that Myanmar would not allow its territory for subversive activities aimed against India.
