The joint committee of the AMUCO, AMSU, UPF, IPSA, AMKIL and NIPCO today appealed to all sections of the people of Manipur not to do anything that can create misunderstanding among the various communities nor to be carried away by rumors and to uphold the unity and integrity of the people.
A statement issued by the publicity group of the joint bodies said the people of Manipur will never support any move to ignite bloodshed among the various communities who have been living together from time immemorial.
It said the design of the government of India to incite bloodshed among the people of Manipur will not be allowed to fructify.
The statement also expressed pain at he alleged endeavor of the United Naga Council to stir up misunderstanding among various sections of the people in Manipur.
At the same time, the statement also expressed hope that the communities concerned will come forward and join hands to preserve the territorial integrity and live together peacefully and harmoniously.
Meanwhile, various organizations have opposed the ceasefire extension to Manipur and expressed condolence on the death of 14 persons during the protest movement.
A meeting of the North Imphal United Clubs� and Meira Paibis� Organisation today condemn the June 18 CRPF firing at protestors and mourned the death of 14 persons.
The meeting resolved that all the organisation under its jurisdiction will join the ongoing movement against cease-fire extension while at the same time marinating communal harmony.
The All India Kuki Youth Federation has demanded the resignation of the 60 MLAs and three MPs of the state immediately from their posts, maintaining that they were indirectly responsible for the extension of the Indo-NSCN(IM) ceasefire to Manipur through their jostling for power ignoring the public interests.
The AIFYF in a statement, reiterated its stance for protection of Manipur� territorial integrity and extended full support to the AMSU and AMUCO.
