Reacting immediately to the outcry raised against the killing of RK Sanajaoba, DIG Range I Anish Dayal today submitted a report to the Addl DGP (LO) following the strict instructions of the CM and according to the report filed by the DIG, the driver, who shot Sanajaoba to death has been placed under suspension.
The suspension order was issued by the SP, Imphal West.
According to the instruction of the DGP, OC on probation Joyce Lalrimmiwi, has been has been withdrawn from her present posting and attached to the office of the Imphal West, SP.
The police have also registered an FIR against the police driver N Ibomcha and the DGP has issued an order instructing the CID to conduct an independent probe.
Meanwhile numerous social organizations have condemned the killing of the civilian.
Strongly condemning the killing of a civilian in broad daylight by the police, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup today said that it fully supports the 24 hour general strike called by the People's Action Committee Against the Brutal Killing of RK Sanajaoba and added that the killing is all that more abominable given the current agitation to revoke the AFSPA from the State.
Such action of the police will only jeopardize the proposed talk between the Apunba Lup and the Centre, said the statement and demanded that all the guilty police personnel should be given fitting punishment.
The Students� Federation of India, Manipur State Committee and Democratic Youth Federation, Manipur State Committee have also strongly condemned the killing.
The two student bodies described the killing as beastly, inhuman and barbaric.
Instead of restoring peace and normalcy, the State Govt and its law enforcing agents are terrorizing the people and jeopardizing the volatile law and order situation in the State, the student bodies charged.
