Police have booked more suspected underground cadres under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Ordinance 2004 that has been enforced through out the nation after repealing POTA.
Three persons who have been alleged as members of the underground KCP by the police, have been book-ed u/s 20 of UA (P) Amendment Ordinance.
The three identified as T Sana alias Kankapa (22) s/o of LT Rabei of Lalambung Makhong Naosekpam Lei-kai, Ch Bijen (20) s/o (L) Ch Ibomcha Singh of Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak and P Pari (22) s/o (L) Pishak of Lalambung Makhong Naosekpam Leikai were arrested by the police from RIMS complex yesterday, case record said.
They were produced before CJM Imphal today.
Lamphel police produced them before the court for remanding the trio ten days in police custody, however the CJM gave only five days.
Meanwhile, the same court remanded one Khulem Tomba who had been booked under UAP ordinance by Lamphel police to judicial custody till 1 pm of October 25.One killed: Personnel of 13 JK Rifles gunned down a suspected UG during a fierce gun battle at Teikot Village thirteen Kms south east of Singhat PS this morning at around 6, said sources.
One AK 47 rifle was recovered from the slain militant.
The identity of the deceased militant is yet to be established.
Churachandpur police has not received any report about the encounter, added the source.
A rickshaw driver who was admitted at JN Hospital with serious injuries after being thrashed by some unidentified persons near Palace Gate under Porompat PS on the night of October 19 at around 7 succumbed to his injuries today, said sources.
The victim has been identified as Nongrakpam Khermohon (35) alias Mohon of Wangoo Sabamkhong presently residing in a rented house at Brahmapur Harikhagok Makhong.
Sources further informed that the victim was beaten by two passengers whom he had carried from near Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre.
Porompat police has registered a case in connection with the incident.
