Candidate's residence attacked at Thangmeiband AC 6 hurt, bomb attacks continue

Imphal, January 10 2012:
At least six persons including two women have been injured in a bomb attack which was carried out at the residential gate of Khumukcham Joykishan located at Khuyathong Polem Leikai today.
Khumukcham Joykishan Singh is contesting the ensuing Assembly Elections under Trinamool Congress in Thangmeiband AC .
The hand grenade hurled by some unidentified persons exploded near the residential gate of the Trinamool Congress candidates at around 5 pm today and till the time of filing this report no one has claimed responsibility.
The injured persons have been identified as Adhikarimayum Dasumati (76) of Khuyathong Polem Leikai, Laipubam Keshorjit of Thangmeiband, Om Prakash Gupta (30), Amiri Shah from Bihar staying at Khuyathong Polem Leikai, Bipu Choudhury (5) from Bihar and staying at Khoyathong Polem Leikai, Baby Devi (30) of UP and staying at Khoyathong Polem Leikai.
Identity of another person who was injured in the incident has not been established.
All the injured persons were rushed to RIMS for treatment.
Eyewitnesses said that moments before the blast, two youths suspected to be the attackers were seen fleeing towards the western side from Joykishan's gate.
Joykishan Singh condemned the incident as politically influenced.
Meanwhile, some unidentified persons attacked the Yairipok Ningthounai residence of Congress nominated candidate of Andro AC, Al Haz Ahmed Ali by lobbing a hand grenade today noon.
A police team picked-up the grenade which failed to go off.
In another incident, a hand grenade was found at the residence of a CPI worker identified as one Thokchom Nabakumar (40) of Lamlai Makha at around 6 am today.
Some unidentified persons also left a hand grenade near the gate of one Sapam Noren (58), a local businessman from Nagamapal Kangjabi Mayai Leikai today morning around 8.30 .
In yet another attack carried out by unidentified persons, a hand grenade which failed to go off was found in the courtyard of Electricity Department's EE Tongbram Ibochou (56) of Sagolband Thongam Leikai today around 10.30 am.
Both grenades were picked-up by the bomb expert team of Manipur police.
