Imphal, August 09 2009:
Even as the plan size of the State for the current fiscal year has not been fixed yet, the Union Planning Commission has started releasing normal Central assistance fund from the plan amount at the rate of Rs 55 crores per month.
According to an official source, the amount of normal Central assistance released by the Planning Commission is 10 percent higher than the amount sanctioned in the last fiscal year.
Notably, Chief Minister walked out from a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Montek Singh Aluhwalia at New Delhi after the Planning Commission suggested a much smaller Plan size than the amount proposed by the State.
Principal Secretary, Finance/Planning AS Jha has been preparing a proposal to increase the Plan amount by 20 percent from the Plan size of the last fiscal.
The proposal to be sent to the Planning Commission will ask for an increase in the additional Central resource allowance.
Although the exact figure could not be confirmed yet, it is expected that the plan amount for the current fiscal may reach Rs 1800 crores.
