CorCom cautions against MCA-I
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, September 28 2012: The Coordination Committee (CorCom) of KCP, KYKL, PREPAK, PREPAK (Pro) RPF, UNLF and UPPK has asked all the people to stay away from military civic action (MCA) programmes organised by the Indian military.

A statement issued by CorCom media coordinator H Poirei noted that people are fully aware how the erstwhile independent kingdom of Manipur (Kangleipak) was annexed into the Indian Union on October 15, 1949 .

Manipur regained independence in 1947 after the departure of British colonisers after a democratic form of Government was set up under the Manipur Constitution Act 1947 by holding elections in June-July 1948 .

However the Council of Ministers was abolished abruptly and Manipur was declared a part of India.

Since the very day of annexation, the Government of India, fearing mass revolt against the deceitful and forced annexation, deployed its military all over Manipur.

Ever since the annexation, all the rights of the people have been forfeited and the indigenous people are living a wretched life under the alien rule.

At the same time, people have been waging different movements, both covert and overt against the alien rule.

It is now everybody's knowledge that the Government of India has been imposing their diktats in order to keep Manipur as a frontier against foreign invasion/aggression.

To regain sovereignty of Manipur is the birth-right of each people of Manipur, and "we should not remain silent after our country has been annexed by India", CorCom asserted.

The ongoing armed movement aimed at winning back the lost sovereignty of Manipur is acceptable to the UN Charter.

In the meantime, the Government of India has been unleashing all kinds of violence to suppress the legitimate liberation movement.

To fight for lost sovereignty and exercising the right to national self-determination as a fundamental human right is guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

On the other hand, the Government of India has been unleashing all kinds of repressive measures and human rights violation against numerous resolutions of the UN Human Rights Council in their efforts to suppress the liberation movement.

At the same time, the Government of enacted several laws and Acts to cover up all the illegal and inhuman activities being perpetrated by the Indian military in Manipur.

In this way, the Indian legislature, judiciary and military have been coordinating effectively to keep the people of Manipur half-dead, it alleged.

In the meantime, some people who have forsook their own identity and dignity and are living at the blessing of India have been working against the mass and the nation.

They have been working consistently to Indianise all the Manipuri people.

It is a matter of pride and honour for a nation to safeguard their own identity and live as free people.

Contrary to this universal concept, some people have been living a life of sycophancy, just like servile stooges of the Indian rulers and the Indian military.

They are agents of the Government of India.

They do not have any capacity to raise a single voice against any anti-people activity perpetrated by the Indian military nor would they ever try to protect people from the atrocities of the alien rule.

Greater the misery endured by people, greater are the benefits they received from the alien rule.

As such, they are opposed to any idea of replacing the Indian regime/system with a new one.

That is why, they have been supporting the Indian military with all their wits and strength.

This is no more a secret to the people, CorCom asserted.

"Our mothers, youths and students must understand the true colours of the Indian military.

They should not fall prey to delusory tactics of the Indian military", it advised.

The Indian history and the history of Manipur are poles apart.

Even after reading volumes of Indian history, one would not find anything about Manipur.

The Indian people too know that Manipuris are not Indians.

"We too are saying we are not Indians and never would be.

We should live as a Manipuri nation and we have all the capability to live as an independent nation", it asserted.

People ought to reject all the MCA programmes which are aimed at hoodwinking the mass.

People must understand that the Indian military has been trying to deceive them by doling out some articles after unleashing a series of repressive measures which included arbitrary murder and rape.

The Indian military is trying to make the people forget all their wanton acts of human rights violation.

Memories of Chanu Rose of Grihang village, Ukhrul are still fresh in the minds of the people.

After keeping Oinam village of Senapati district under siege for more than a month, the Indian military massacred 27 innocent civilians and tortured more than 300 villagers.

More than 100 houses including church were razed to ground.

Many women were raped and one pregnant woman was forced to deliver baby in open ground.

The mass rape by CRPF at Langjing cannot be simply buried under sands of time.

"Can our people forget the Heirangoithong massacre? People still remember the Heirangoithong Massacre as the second Mai Lai (of Vietnam)" .

All the people of Manipur were incensed when Manorama was raped and murdered in the most brutal manner.

It evoked a massive and sustained protest movement all over Manipur.

The movement reached its climax when Meira Paibis staged a nude protest in front of Kangla garrison, then occupied by Assam Rifles.

The historic movement fully exposed the sadistic side of the Indian military before the international community.

Photo/video clips about the broad day light of murder of Sanjit and Rabina could not be published in the local media for fear of backlash from the Indian military, emboldened by AFSPA.

The photo/video clips were given to Tehelka and they exposed how the duo were murdered.

In 2000, the Indian military mowed down 10 innocent people including women and children at Malom.

It was from this incident, Irom Chanu Sharmila, now fittingly called Iron Lady launched her unprecedented crusade against AFSPA.
