A meeting of the CPI Manipur State Council has officially nominated the name of Dr M Nara, who is the Secretary of CPI Manipur State Council, as the candidate of the party for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Announcing this during a press conference at the party office here today, Senior party leader and former Minister N Mangi informed that the decision of the CPI Manipur State Council is to be brought up for discussion and finalisation during the National Council meeting to be held at New Delhi from October 28 to 30 .
ON the last day of the National Council meeting, a convention of the Left parties and other regional parties would also be held with the objective of ensuring installation of a non-Congress or non-BJP Government at the Centre after the Lok Sabha election, he disclosed.
As for the outer seat, since the party is not ongoing to field its own candidate, with which like-minded parties CPI would work together would be decided soon, he added.
In response to a question on the efforts made for fielding common candidates, the CPI leader observed that the issue is of not much significance now.
Nonetheless, the opposition parties would work together on issues of common interest from time to time.
