Imphal, October 25 2013 :
Against the backdrop of alleged serious threats posed over the land and natural resources/ownership, the All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has embarked on a campaign with the theme 'My Land My Identity: Walking the Peripheries,' wherein volunteers of the students' body would meet people, talk to them and strengthen the base they come from.
The campaign was flagged off today by Sujata Ngayanhui, the better half of ANSAM founder president, C Peter Ngayanhui, IPS from MBC campus, Chingmeirong.
President of ANSAM, Seth Shatshang said the campaign is to go back to the grassroots in order to strengthen each other in its struggle to protect the land and its people.

The campaign is set to commence with the message that the symbiotic relationship with land is sacrosanct and ANSAM is determined to uphold it, Seth Satshang said.
Recalling that ANSAM was founded as a collective effort, voice and conscience of the Naga students to safeguard the land, people and to secure the political future of the Nagas, Seth said the students' body, since its inception, has been relentlessly and consistently working towards the realisation of its objectives along with other organisations.
Although the rights over the land and natural resources have continued to survive as a result of the fierce collective struggle, the land is not free from forced occupation, Seth Satshang said.
"The colonial agenda of India to take control over our land and natural resources is not over and we must only probe deeper into Govt's intentions and interest in taking away people's sovereignty over our land and natural resources," he remarked.
Sujata Chinphang wished the campaign of the Naga students' body a success.
