MU club appeals against bandh during IT festival

THE 2ND Information Technology (IT) festival, 2012, is all set to be held under the aegis of Manipur University (MU), Information Technology (IT) Club, Department of Computer Science from September 26 to 28 at the Centenary Hall as well as hall of the Department.
In view of the upcoming IT Fest, the Club has made an earnest appeal to all concerned to desist from calling any bandh, blockade or general strike during the course of the festival.
Talking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Yanglem Loijinglemba, Publicity Secretary of MU IT Club, Department of Computer Science, observed that Manipur is still backward in terms of information technology while comparing with other states.
So, the Club has been taking up the onus of organizing the IT festival with the main objective of bringing about development in the field of information technology in Manipur since last year.
The second edition of the festival would be held from September 26 to 28 at the Centenary Hall of the University and the hall of the Computer Science Department.
So, considering the need to organise such festivals without any sort of disturbance in the interest of the student community, it is appealed to all concerned to refrain from calling any bandh, blockade or general strike during the said period.
Loijinglemba informed that the IT Fest would be participated by students studying from class VI onwards and there would be quiz, debating, painting, ex-tempore, photo competitions and fashion parades.
Many resource persons would also be delivering lectures on various topics during the festival, he said, while appealing to all the students to come and participate in the event.
