Imphal, March 22 2013:
Claiming responsibility for the bomb attack on troops of 15 Assam Rifles at Yairipok Malom area today, the proscribed UG group Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has stated that it was carried out by a Special Warfare Group of its armed wing People's Liberation Army (PLA) and said that at least two AR personnel were killed in the attack.
In a statement signed by its Secretary Publicity Chief of Department of Publicity Bangkim, RPF stated that the Special Warfare Group of PLA planted the bomb at the area and informed the police about the bomb.
Later, the Assam Rifles surrounded the area and tried their best to take local women to the spot as their human shield.
However, the brave local people foiled their attempt and left the AR to their own.
The statement also claimed that two AR personnel namely Havildar Mahender and Rifleman Pratap Tawang were killed at the spot in the said bomb attack.
It further stated that the ongoing revolution of RPF is for the freedom of Manipur.
In its struggle, RPF and its armed wing PLA have lost many brave members while many have become victims of oppression and army brutality.
However, the organisation and its members are advancing in the struggle without any fear.
It is the cooperation of the people which enable PLA to carry out attacks on Indian security forces at any time and place, it stated, while thanking the people of Manipur for their cooperation and support.
It also appealed to the people for continued support in ongoing freedom struggle.
