TKS ex-VP found murdered

Imphal, September 19 2014 : A man was found murdered at Thayong hill on Friday after he was reportedly abducted on September 17 from ISBT at Khuman Lampak in Imphal.

The man was identified as Ngamreishang Ningshen, 39, son of (Late) N.Trueson of Alang village under Phungyar sub-division.

He was the former vice president of Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) .

Police recovered his lifeless body from Thayong hill under Lamlai police station, Imphal East on Friday morning.

He was found bludgeoned to death with some blunt object on his head with his legs, hands tied behind and blindfolded.

A family source said Ningshen was abducted on September 17 from ISBT Khuman Lampak in Imphal at around 7.30am.His friend received a text message on the next day on a mobile phone from an unknown number giving information about his whereabouts.

Locals of Thayong reportedly related to the deceased family members this morning that six strangers arrived at the village on Wednesday evening and few of them even bought water bottles from a shop.

A family member said Ningshen and his younger cousin Chuirei came to Imphal on Monday to attend to his younger sister, who was critically ill and residing at Langol village.

He was found missing when his cousin returned from a shop at Khuman Lampak.

An autopsy was conducted at JNIMS Imphal this afternoon.

His mortal remains were taken to his native village after a condolence service at Tangkhul Baptist Church Imphal this evening.

Phungyar MLA Victor Keishing also visited the bereaved family members at JNIMS morgue site and enquired into the incident's timeline.

Members of TKS, TKLI, ITSL, TPOI, TYCM, TAKL, Zingsho Longphang among others attended the service and shared condolences with the bereaved families, while also condemning the gruesome murder.

Alang village authority read declaration condemning the inhuman and cold blooded murder of Ngamreishang Ningshen.

He was also said to be chief judge of Khukok Long customary court and secretary of Alang MGNREGS committee.

Meanwhile, Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has strongly condemned the murder of Ningshen and said that such inhuman acts of barbarism is not acceptable in any society in today's world as a means of resolving a difference.

"The Saklong is indeed truly disturbed beyond words.

The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong offers its deepest sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased and pray to the Almighty God for comfort and guidance during this time of bereavement.

Late Mr.Ngamreishang Ningshen was the Vice President of the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong during the Presidency of Mr.Wungnaoshang A Shimray for the tenure 2009-2011.The Saklong pays its tribute to the departed soul in whom the society has lost a person of immense maturity, responsibility and a great leader.

We would like to appeal to all not to commit such acts of barbarism which tarnishes the image of the entire society", the student body said in a statement.
