MUSU election: Code of conduct put into effect

Following the formation of a monitoring committee to ensure free and fair Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) election for the term 2020-21, a code of conduct for the same has been put into effect from 6 pm, today.
Monitoring Committee of Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) Election, 2020-21 Session was floated on January 11 this year.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at Manipur University, convenor of the monitoring committee, Thokchom Suresh said that candidates who violate the 13 points code of conduct would be disqualified.
According to the election codes, hosting of a feast, tea party , study tour and a picnic is prohibited, he said.
Thokchom Suresh also added that entry of outsiders at the MU campus for the sole purpose related to election is also forbidden.
Candidates can hold an election campaign from 9 am to 4.30 pm, added Thokchom Suresh.
However, distribution of intoxicants including liquor is banned, he added.
The convenor then appealed to all concerned to obey the code of
conduct.
