1st NEIPP working committee constituted

The 1st North East Indigenous Peoples' Parliament (NEIPP) has constituted its first working committee on Saturday last in the premise of the Kuman Lamapak Kangsang with Wangkhem Saratchandra as the Convenor.
The parliament was organised by Assam Sanmilita Mahasangha (ASM), Assam Meitei Apunba Lup (AMAL) and Coalition for Indigenes' Rights Campaign (CIRCA), Manipur.
According to a source, a meeting of the working committee had resolved to co-opt the three convenors of the organising committee of NEIPP as permanent members of the working committee.
Wangkhem Saratchandra was unanimously selected as the Convenor of working committee on the recommendation of the 1st NIPP 2015 held at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex Kangsang from December 10 to 12 last.
The meeting also resolved that the present working committee members be requested to invite and mobilise other ethnic communities for selecting representatives from their respective communities to be a member of the working committee on NIPP and also to choose the co�ordinator(s), not more than five in number for their respective States within three months from December 12, 2015 .
Further, the members of the working committee resolved that a temporary office of the working committee will be set up at CIRCA, Manipur's Office in Imphal (Manipur) .
Meanwhile, in an interaction with media persons after the NIPP meeting, NIPP Working Committee Coordinator Ningthouja Lancha said that the parliament which concluded on Saturday discussed various issues of the people of the Northeast including challenges and survival; human rights and human security; economy and development; population influx and identity crisis; fundamental rights � culture education and language and political and economy.
Ningthouja Lancha stated that such type of parliament will be held in various parts of Northeast States.
Further discussions will consider the recommendations and the same will be reaffirmed in the future before adopting suitable resolutions.
