STATE CHIEF Minister O Ibobi today laid the foundation stones for construction of offices of Sub Divisional Officers (SDO) at Willong and Phaibung in Senapati district, and also took part as chief guest in the golden jubilee celebrations of the Government High School at Paomata in the district.

Chief Minister O Ibobi spoke at the public functions held at Willong, Paomata and Phaibung.
He said, the government is taking up works to bring development on equal level in the hills and the plains of Manipur.
The construction of the SDO and BDO office buildings will be completed very soon.
The new offices will benefit the people living in the surrounding areas.
The government has set aside necessary amount of money for the construction of the office buildings.
Plans have also been worked out to construct the quarters to house the employees who would be posted at the new offices.
Ibobi told the gatherings that the elections of the district councils which have not been held for a long time would also be held as soon as possible.
Mentioning about education, the Chief Minister said that the government has already made arrangements to fill the vacant posts of 1,729 teachers in the primary schools under the district councils.
He also said that, the Centre has approved of the plan of opening Indira Gandhi National Tribal University in the state.
Efforts would be made to upgrade the Paomata Government High School to the Higher Secondary level.
Regarding the law and order situation prevailing in the state, Chief Minister Ibobi said that his government would take up necessary steps to open a police outpost at a suitable place in Paomata sub-division.
Steps will also be taken to provide water supply at Paomata and Phaibung.
The PHC of Phaibung would also be upgraded to CHC.
He also promised to improve the 30 km long road from Paomata to Laii Shiraffi, and appealed to the people to extend cooperation to make the various works being taken up by the state government successful.
It is worth mentioning here that the SDO office of Willong will cover a population of 29,024 of a total of 3,618 households of 23 villages, while the SDO office of Phaibung will cover around 33,996 people of 4,186 households of 16 villages.
Revenue Minister Th Devendra, Works Minister K Ranjit, RD&PR Minister Md Allauddin Khan, TD Minister DD Thaisii, Ex-minister RK Theko and Francis Ngajokpa also accompanied the Chief Minister.
