Ukhrul, April 03 2012:
Even after expiry of the deadline for completing the construction work on the institutional building of Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Khangkhui Khullen village, the centrally sponsored project is yet to see the daylight due to conflicting parties claiming their right over the work.
Talking to reporters on Tuesday, Khangkhui Khullen village headmen KA Rinsem Shimray appealed to the authorities concerned to take a serious look into the matter and initiate action for early completion of the construction work.
He also appealed to the conflicting agencies to resolve among themselves and pave way for continuation of the project at the earliest.

Pointing out that prolonged delay in completing the work has denied basic medical facilities to the villagers, the village headman rued that the villagers have suffered immensely.
It is said that construction work on the PHC institutional building at Khangkhui Khullen village was taken up at an estimated cost of Rs.53.23lacs under National Rural Health Mission (NHRM) and the work order was sanctioned to one G Panmei on December 9, 2009 .
In January 2010, the construction work started but had to be cut short as another agency claimed its rights over the same project.
Following conflicting claims by two work agencies, the relevant authorities of the district conducted a spot inquiry and a joint meeting was also convened with both the conflicting agencies and officials of NHRM.
However, there has been no follow up action from district authorities.
Khangkhui Khullen authorities conveyed that the villagers have not received any facilities given under NHRM so far.
