Birth Centenary Celebration of Sanasam Gourahari held

The Sanasam Gourahari Birth Centenary Celebration, 2011 was held at Singjamei Community Hall, Singjamei Parking, Imphal along with paying rich floral tributes to the departed soul today.
Organised under the aegis of Sanasam Gourahari Birth Centenary Celebration Committee, the function was graced by Th Iboyaima, noted social worker; RV Minthing, Ex-Minister; Md Halim Choudhary, retired Commissioner to the GoM; E Sonamani, retired Commissioner to the GoM; H Bhuban, ex-MLA; Holkholet Khongsai, ex-Minister; B Jayentakumar Sharma, Musicologist; Prof Gangmumei Kamei, ex-Minister; Prof Lal Dena, Historian and Scholar and L Birendrakumar, noted Singer, Lyricist and Actor as the Presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, L Sadananda, former Principal, Manipur College said that renowned educationist late Sanasam Gourahari was born on December 29, 1911 in Singjamei.
He did his schooling from Johnstone High School (now Johnstone Higher Sec School) and graduated from Cotton College Gauhati.
He later held the post of an Assistant teacher in CC Higher Sec School.
Later on he worked as the Private Secretary to Maharaja Budhachandra.
In recognition of his contribution to the society, late Sanasam Gourahari was awarded by the Manipur Sahitya Parishad and was also honoured with Fellow Award by the Manipur State Kala Akademi.
During his life time, he also wrote Modern School Essay, Practical English Manipuri Translation, Manipur and 2nd World War, Volume I and II and 100 Years March, he informed.
To mark the birth centenary celebration, a souvenir was also released.
