Imphal, January 20 2017:
After a list of candidates finalised for BJP ticket has been published in the media, supporters of BJP's intending candidates who have been left out of the list have started targeting BJP Manipur Pradesh office located at Kei-shampat Nityaipat Chuthek.
As Chungkham Bijoy who has been preparing to contest the I I th Manipur Legislative Assembly election on BJP ticket in Patsoi AC has been left out of the list of candidates finalised for BJP ticket, a group of his supporters marched to the BJP office today.
However, they were blocked by police near Keishampat Powerhouse and driven back toward Keishampat junction.
As published in the media, S Premananda Sharma was named as BJP candidate for Patsoi AC.
Notably, the Election Commission of lndia has already announced thatthe 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election would be held in two phases on March 4 and 8 .
Speaking to media persons later.
N Chaoba, an active worker of Ch Bijoy, said that candidates should be selected prudently and with sound judgement if there should be a BJP Government in the State.
The list of candidates which is said to be finalised and already published in media has created confusion to a large number of people.
If the party tickets are given to the so called finalized candidates, BJP would definitely see its end in Manipur.
Chaoba said.
The party's Central leaders were saying that persons who contributed significantly in strengthening the party and educated the masses on the many flagship programmes taken up by the Central Government would be given BJP ticket.
Giving party tickets to persons who can lobby the most is unacceptable.
A detailed report about all the activities undertaken by Ch Bijoy at each and every polling booth of Patsoi AC for strengthening the party has been submitted to the party's leadership.
They should consider this report before giving party ticket to any other contender, Chaoba added.
Meanwhile, MI Khan who was seeking BJP ticket to contest the forthcoming election in Keirao AC has decided to join another National political party after his name was left out of the list of finalised candidates.
A public meeting held today at Keirao Makting Makha Leikai resolved that MI Khan should contest the Assembly election on the ticket of another National political party.
