Ksh Nonigopal Memorial Invitation football : KSC start on impressive note

A brace by Mangboi helped Kuki Sporting Club (KSC) survive the preliminary knock-out stage of the 6th Ksh Nonigopal Memorial invitation football tournament 2016-17 which began today under the aegis of All Jiribam Sports Association at Jiribam Govt Hr Sec school playground.
In the first preliminary knock-out stage played today, KSC outclassed Diger HSC 3-1 .
It was Mangboi who handed an early lead to KSC as he slammed home the opener in the 6th minute.
The lead however was cancelled out by Aldim of Diger HSC in the 31 st minute.
The two teams were tied 1 -1 in the first half.
Both sides made frenetic attempts to carry on the momentum in the second half.
But, the second session saw the collapse of Diger HSC defence line twice.
Mangboi struck his second in the 56th minute to again take the lead for KSC.
Later, Lampi took charge to net another goal in the 68th minute to ensure victory to KSC.
Diger HSC forwards made several attempts to make inroad into their rivals' citadel.
However, KSC defenders stood firm to prevent any risk from the onslaught of the attackers.
Earlier, the opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by L Ranjit Kumar Singh, ZEO, Jiribam; M Brajakanta Singh, president, AJSA and Ksh Promola Devi, donor of the tournament as the chief guest, president and guest of honour.
HYC, Hmar Khawlien take on Chiru Sporting Club tomorrow at 2 pm.
