Imphal, April 15 2013:
With increase in the budget allocation of Government of India to the Ministry of DoNER from the current fiscal year, 2013-14, the fund to be sanctioned for the State of Manipur for its developmental projects is also likely to be increased at an estimated amount of over Rs 100 crores, Secretary of DoNER UK Sangma has disclosed.
The DoNER secretary arrived at Imphal today to take stock of the Shija Blood Bank and Transfusion Services which has been set up with funding from NEC under PPP model.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the inspection visit, UK Sangma said that DoNER Ministry had sanctioned Rs 80 crores for taking up developmental projects in Manipur under Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) during fiscal year 2012-13.However, as the Government of Manipur could only utilize the sanctioned amount in time, Rs 40 crores has remained unused.
Though the actual amount of to be sanctioned by the Ministry for the fiscal year 2013-14 is not yet known, it is most likely that the Ministry would sanction more than Rs 100 crores for Manipur since the budget allocation of DoNER Ministry has been increased from the previous fiscal year.
So, the Government of Manipur has been directed to prepare a Detail Project Report (DPR) and submit it to the DoNER Ministry at the earliest possible so that the amount sanctioned can be used up within the stipulated period, he added.
The Secretary further informed that one hospital each in Assam and Nagaland has started functioning under PPP model as a part of the programmes taken up under the Ministry of DoNER.
In Manipur too, the Shija Blood Bank and Transfusion Services has been set up under PPP model.
All these developments clearly indicated that the programmes taken up in the field of Health Sector in the North Eastern part of India has been a grand success.
Development programmes in other areas will also be taken up in due course of time.
A reception function in honour of UK Sangma was also hosted at the conference hall of Shija Hospital today.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kh Palin highlighted the achievements of Shija hospital to the visiting Secretary of DoNER.
He said that around 50 Myanmarese nationals are coming to Shija Hospital for treatment on an average every month.
In the current month itself, number of Myanmarese patients coming to the hospital has reached 56 .
