Awareness programme held

An awareness programme was held today in connection to "World Heart Day & Breast Cancer" at Primary Health Centre, Longmai, Noney.
Adai Dangmei Chairman Longmai Village Customary Court (Thoupei), Dr Azin Maringmei DTO/DLO Noney and Dr Edwin Golmei Chief Medical officer Noney graced the awareness programme as Chief Guest, Guest of honour and President respectively.
The programme was moderated by KG Ngamgongrei, DFM, NHM, Noney while welcome and keynote address was delivered by Dr Louisa Golmei, MO, DNO, NCD, Noney.
Chief Guest, Adai Dangmei mentioned that the Govt has taken up various welfare scheme for the people from time to time, however the people did not know how to avail the benefits from the concerned department.
Medical department is important because it provides medical care for healthy living, the chief guest added and said the medical practitioners work day and night in all seasons and full co-operation is needed from the public to have a good relationship with them.
Functional President Dr Edwin Golmei CMO Noney, while briefing about heart diseases and its causes, said that consumption of alcohol, chewing tobacco and smoking cigarette etc are the main cause of heart diseases for most of the people and advised the gatherings not to consume such things.
The CMO also said mat one should reduce consumption of red meat and start doing regular exercise while adding that drinking more water and eating green fruits & vegetables will help the body remain fit and healthy.
Dr Louisa Golmei also spoke on the topic "Breast cancer and its causes" during the programme while around 30 women participated in the programme.
A total of 70 men and women including villages leaders, elders, ASHA workers from the area attended the programme.
