6th winter mela for differently abled persons ends

'We need to develop a society based on love, humanity and culture to achieve the target of inclusiveness in development in Manipur, said Revenue Minister Karam Shyam.
He was speaking as chief guest at the closing function of the 3 days.
6th Winter Disabled Mela organised in line with International Day of Persons with Disabilities-2018 at Tera Primary School, Sagolband Tera Bazar today.
The Mela Was held on the theme: "Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality".
It was jointly organised by Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons Manipur, Northern Disability Institute All Manipur Disability Right Network, The Symbiosis Society the Deaf Welfare Organisation, All Tribal Disables Union Manipur, Society for Empowerment of Disabled Persons and Eramdam Apunba Disabled Welfare Association.
Ex-MLA Patsoi AC, Sapam Kunjakeshor Singh; State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Dr RK Amarjit, Ward member, Sapam Leikai Gram Panchayat, RK Geeta Devi, Zonal Education Officer, Zone I, Sucheta Kh, chairman, Organising Committee, Chirom Opendro Singh, social scientist, Dhanabir Laishram, Chief Editor, Pheejigi Manilaktagi, Nimol N and National Awardee, L Amarendra Sharma attended the function as presidium members.
"The State has around 54,000 differently abled persons.
And if all the welfare associations of the differently abled persons of the State unite into a single organisation with the same agenda, it will be more forceful and exert a stronger impact on the Government as well as the public," Karam Shyam said.
The Minister assured the differently abled persons of their rights and encouraged general public to help and assist the differently abled persons in every way possible for their equal growth as important part of the society.
M Sumati Devi, a recipient of National Award for her contribution in the field of welfare of disabled persons was accorded a warm reception at the function.
At the event, Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons Manipur announced that it will provide assistance in getting the disabled persons pan-cards.
Around 30 stalls were opened at the mela showcasing various products made by the differently abled persons.
