Winners of patriotic song competition feted

Every student can accomplish everything they want if they give in a disciplined and dedicated effort and parents need to tap talents right from their wards' childhood and lead them in the right direction to make the upcoming generation a fruitful and an indomitable one.
The statement was made by the Chairperson of the Nambol Municipal Council, Chingakham Basanta during a felicitation function of the winners of the 7th Patriotic Song Competition 2020 held at the auditorium of Public Theatre, Nambol today.
The 7th edition of the song competition organised by the Artiste Training Cum Educational Research Centre (ATEREC), Imphal was conducted online this time.
Speaking as one of the dignitaries, Basanta expressed happiness that there is a gradual rise in number among State youths who are passionate and taking interest in Arts and Culture.
The enthusiasm this younger generation is showing is remarkable and it is certain that the State's rich Arts and Culture is not going to fade easily, he said while urging all to contribute and ensure that such priceless treasure remains intact and help preserve the distinctive identity of Manipur.
Speaking as the guest of honour, proprietor of M/S Purnima Enterprises, Ningombam Ongbi Ranibala said that nurturing the younger generation is akin to nurturing a plant and its full growth depends on how the guardians take care and support.
As such the responsibility of parents is enormous, she said.
Stressing on the need to give special attention and care to girls, she also appealed all to ensure crime against women and children is stopped.
The felicitation programme was also attended by Sapam Momon, president of ATEREC as functional president.
Delivering the welcome address, ATEREC's secretary Okendro Khundongbam maintained that the research centre is organising the song competition uninterrupted since 2014.The competition aims at encouraging emerging singers and lyricists, he said.
Saying that the competition will be held continuously, he also sought support from all sections of the society towards their cause.
Executive member of ATEREC, Rakesh Naorem also asserted that the competition also looks to impart the sense of Nationalism and love for the State among youths.
"Let us contribute whatever we can to save the State," he continued.
Winners of the competition Yumlembam Jinda, Thounaojam Surjit, Maringmei Ajapui Kabui, Mutum Shitanpriyari, Wahengbam Kalpana, Sagolsem Krishibhani Chanu and Sanasam Premi (from 1st to 7th position) were feted with cash prizes, mementoes and certificates during the function.
Sanasam Premi and Yumlembam Jinda were also conferred 'Best Popular People Choice Award 2020' while Moirangthem Shamananda, son of M Manihar was honoured with 'Special Jury Mention Award 2020'.They were also feted with cash prizes and certificates.
