Kakching, October 04 2020:
In observance of the ongoing 66th Wildlife Week celebrated from October 2-8 and World Animals Day on October 4, the Kakching Range staff released a full grown tingri, a type of whistling duck, into its natural habitat.
Speaking on the occasion, Range Forest Officer N Munal Meitei said that tingri used to be found in the State in large number at one point but overtime have decreased in number due to encroachment over their habitat area by people.
In view of Wildlife Week and Animal's Day, N Munal urged all to save and protect wildlife, which is nature's beautiful gift to us, he added.
