Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) has settled 221 cases amicably with total settlement amounting to Rs 5,96,36,313 (five crore ninety six lakh thirty six thousand three hundred and thirteen) through Lok Adalat in 2020.Briefing media persons at Lamphel today in connection with the National Lok Adalat which is due on April 10, member secretary of MSLSA, Gaiphulshillu Golmei stated that many pending MACT cases were disposed off successfully through Lok Adalat last year when the regular Courts were not functioning properly due to Covid pandemic.
He informed that physical Lok Adalats were cancelled after the first National Lok.
Adalat last year due to the Covid pandemic and online Lok Adalat was introduced.
As people are not much aware of the Lok Adalat, people taking help of this dispute redressal mechanisms are quite low, he reminded that Lok Adalat provides a platform to settle civil and other cases expeditiously and freely.
He also said that cases pending at Courts, dispute and pre-litigation cases can be referred to Lok Adalat for settlement.
Informing that a National Lok Adalat would be held on April 10, he appealed to all concerned to take the benefit of the Adalat and settled their cases or disputes by consulting with MSLSA or District Legal Service Authority.
