Caseload crosses 9000 mark as state logs 14 deaths, 729 new cases

As the state reported 14 fatalities and 729 new cases on Wednesday, the caseload has crossed the 9000 mark though the single day test positivity rate remains below 15 per cent for two consecutive days after the government stepped up its daily testing capacity by almost two-fold.
However, cumulative positivity rate is still on the rise.
Out of the state's total active cases of 9035 as on Wednesday, 4921 are recuperating in home isolation and the remaining 4114 undergoing treatment at healthcare facilities including district hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
The last seven days saw addition of 5980 new cases and 109 fatalities while 24,090 positive cases and 484 fatalities have been reported since the beginning of the current year.
The 14 fatalities reported on Wednesday included a 75-year-old male (IW), a 78-year-old male (IW), a 72-year-old male (IW), a 40-year-old male (Kak), a 36-year-old male (CCpur), an 80-year- old female (CCpur), a 55-year-old female (Tpl), a 72-year-old male (Ukl), a 57-year- old male (IW), a 55-year-old male (Kak), a 71-year-old male (IW), a 65-year-old female (IE), a 67-year-old male (Bpr) and a 51-year-old female (IE) who died at Shija Hospitals (4), DH Churachandpur (2), Home Isolation (1), LCH Ukhrul (1), Babina (1), JNIMS (2) and RIMS (3) hospital respectively.

The cumulative number of deaths is 839 .
According to official reports, the 729 new cases included 728 people (353 male & 375 female) from among the general population and one Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) jawan.
Their samples were tested at RIMS (39), JNIMS (32), District Hospitals (414) and other private testing centres (244).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (108), Imphal West (311), Thoubal (79), Bishnupur (52), Kakching (26), Ukhrul (6), Churachandpur (93), Chandel (4), Senapati (10), Tamenglong (20), Kangpokpi (4), Noney (7) and Jiribam (8).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 622 patients were discharged, out of which 489 were under home isolation, 13 at RIMS (7) and JNIMS (6) and the rest 120 are from other Covid care facilities.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 52,278 (general population - 48,516 and CAPF personnel - 3,762).Number of recovered cases is 42,404 (general population - 38,682 and CAPF personnel - 3,722) and number of active cases is 9,035 (general population - 9,000 and CAPF personnel - 35).The recovery rate is 81.11 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 840 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 544B- type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Central Medical Store in the directorate of health services has 900 D type cylinders in stock.
District Hospitals and government institutions have 343D, 60B filled cylinders while district/subdivision-wise allocation is Bishnupur (20D,0B), Chandel (32D,7B), Churachandpur (64D,0B), Senapati (46D,0B), Thoubal (45D,22B), Ukhrul (14D,2B), Tamenglong (34D,5B), Jiribam (36D,11B), Moreh (23D,5B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (17D,4B), Noney(2D,0B) and Pherzawl (4D,3B).As of Tuesday, 3,93,496 individuals have been administered vaccine against Covid-19 and 80,439 of them have received the second dose.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (18,781), Imphal East (12,182), Thoubal (3854), Churachandpur (3801), Kangpokpi (1461), Tamenglong (1838), Bishnupur (2890), Senapati (1238), Ukhrul (1166), Kakching (2194), Chandel (873), Noney (513), Tengnoupal (516), Jiribam (493), Kamjong (403) and Pherzawl (75) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (318), Imphal East (218), Thoubal (77), Churachandpur (66), Kangpokpi (21), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (53), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (12), Kakching (39), Chandel (12), Noney (2), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (2), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 16,848 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 20,401 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,35,281 tests per million population against the national average of 2,49,067 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.60 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 6552 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 11.18 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 7.16 per cent.
