Nine members of the Film Forum Manipur
led by its president L Surjakanta Sharma along with film critic

ters to DIPR for effective growth of Manipuri Cinema.
The Chief Minister fixed a core group meeting for framing
of a Film Policy on August 30 & 31 at the Hotel Imphal by
the Classic.
He also asked the Film Forum to submit a concept
paper for development of Manipuri' Cinema.
The meeting lasted about two hours.
Film critic Meghachandra Kongbam produced the meeting
proceedings of November 13, 1980 convened by the then
Additional Director of DIPR K Kamini Singh and chaired by
the then CM R K Dorendra.
During the meeting, all matters
related to Manipuri film were transferred from DIPR to the
Ministry of Art & Culture.
Film critic R K Bidur and film
maker K Ibohal Sharma had strongly objected the move.
Subsequently, their names were removed from the member-
ship of Manipur Film Development Council.

DIPR working under the Cinema section of DIPR.
He dem-
onstrated how the transfer of Film industry to Art & Culture
Department had involved double expenditure of the Manipur

procurement of Film equipment.
