Imphal, February 19 2017:
Flag hoisting ceremony of MLA Oinam Lukhoi, Congress candidate from Wangoi Assembly Constituency for the forthcoming Assembly election was held today.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Lukhoi appealed to the people to elect Congress candidates in the coming election to form a stable Government.
He refuted the allegations levelled against him by candidates of different political parties that he failed to execute development programmes in the constituency during his five-year term as an MLA.
The MLA reminded that he was elected to the 10th State Legislative Assembly from AITC ticket and remained in the opposition for more than four and half years before joining INC.
He claimed that despite remaining in the opposition he had taken up various welfare projects which were not executed by previous MLAs of the constituency.
Lukhoi also claimed that construction of SBI Wangoi Branch, operation theatre of Wangoi Community Health Centre and survey for widening Mayai Lambi road are some of the works initiated by him.
Saying that Narendra Modi wave has failed to reach the State as people have witnessed many worst incidents under BJP Government, he expressed confidence that Congress would again form Government for four consecutive terms.
He mentioned that if BJP comes to power in the State, people would witness worst incidents like the June 18 .
MLA Surchandra alleged that after BJP Government was formed at the Centre, subversive activities of NSCN (IM) increased, threatening the territorial integrity of the State.
He said that the contentious Framework Agreement signed between NSCN (IM) and Government of India came under the BJP Government.
Contending that contents of the agreement have been kept secret by the Central Government till date, he suspected that there may be some hidden agendas behind the signing of the Framework Agreement to break the territorial integrity of the State.
If the agreement does not threaten the territorial integrity then why BJP is not furnishing contents of the agreement, the MLA asked.
He demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to disclose publicly the contents of the agreement during his proposed visit to the State.
MLA Ranjit alleged that BJP is looking forward to form the next Government with NPF which is trying to break the territorial integrity of the State.
He asked the people to be aware of the divisive policies adopted by BJP just to gain political mileage.
Congress MLAs Dr I Ibohalbi, Kh Ratankumar, Fajur Rahim, INC spokesperson Oinam Indira, office bearers and Ward Members of Wangoo Block Congress Committee also attended the ceremony which was followed by a public meeting.
