Imphal, February 19 2017:
Demanding disclosure of the Framework Agreement signed between NSCN (IM) and Government of India and safeguard of the territorial integrity of the State, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) protested the visit of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to the State today.
When the Union Home Minister came out of MFDC after holding a meeting, a large number of AMSU volunteers protested by chanting slogans "Stop political conspiracy", "No Supra State body", "Bring out Framework Agreement", "Long live Manipur' etc.
The volunteers also protested at DM College Gate when the Home Minister came out of THAU Ground after attending a meeting.
Earlier police tried to stop the volunteers from coming out of the union office at DM College campus but it went in vain.
A heated altercation erupted between the two sides.
The students' union also took out a rally demanding disclosure of the Framework Agreement.
Speaking to media persons, AMSU secretary general Manjit Sarangthem expressed deep concern on the contents of the agreement which have not been made public yet.
He made it clear that the agreement should not pose a threat to the territorial boundary of the State.
He said that the students' union stands against politicising the Framework Agreement and giving away land belonging to the State.
Questioning the authenticity of the assurance made by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh that the territorial integrity of the State would not be compromised, Manjit said that one must not try to make political gains out of the State's boundary.
