State Bank of India, Imphal Branch today opened a special transaction counter for pensioners and senior citizens of the state at its head office at MG Avenue.
Retired Colonel Haobam Bhubon inaugurated the special counter which is situated in the ground floor.
Speaking on the occasion, AGM, SBI Shillong Ranjit Borkatya said that SBI is opening the special counter keeping in view of the difficulties faced by the pensioners and elder persons.
He appealed to the pensioners to talk with the bank employees directly if they wanted pension loans from the bank assuring them of quality services.
Retd Col Haobam Bhubon said that he and the Manipur State Pensioners' Union have been pressing the authority of the bank for a special counter for pensioners since long.
He said that with the new special counter, pensioners and senior citizens will be freed from long queues to withdraw their pension.
President, Manipur State Pensioners' Union, Bihari and former vice president, SBI Service Association NE Circle, Th Ruhinikumar also attended the function.
Meanwhile, the Manipur State Pensioners' Union in a press release expressed gratitude to the authority of SBI for opening a special counter for pensioners.
It also thanked the authority of UBI for opening its ATM counter on the 8th, 9th and 10th of every month exclusively for pensioners.
