International coaches to be engaged for State players: CM

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has informed that International coaches would be engaged tor training State players for medal haul in the forthcoming 2016 Olympic Games at Rio de Janeiro.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the inaugural function of a Multipurpose Indoor Hall at Khuman Lampak complex here today.
The function was organized under the auspices of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Manipur.
The CM went on to say that international coaches would be engaged for giving special coaching to the State players so that they could become well-trained and equipped in their respective fields and bring more laurels to the State in the next Olympic Games.
He stated that though the State suffers from financial constraints, yet the Govt is giving full emphasis on development of sports infrastructure in the State.
The State Govt would continue to do all the needful for the welfare of sportspersons in the State.
The CM further said that the Government is planning to give special coaching to players in select events where State players are quite familiar with.
These players would be made to stay in hostels for imparting special coaching by engaging renowned coaches of international repute.
Though the investment on giving special coaching to State players by international coaches would be huge, yet it has to be taken up for the sake of the players, he added.
Informing that the Multipurpose Indoor Stadium has been inaugurated in view of the upcoming North East Sports Festival to be hosted by Manipur from April 8, the Chief Minister informed that the indoor stadium has facilities for organizing sporting events like Judo, Taekwondo, Wrestling, Wushu, etc.
This is the fifth time that North East Sports Festival would be held in Manipur and in almost all the editions so far, Manipur has emerged overall champion.
The CM also informed that a 150 capacity hostel both men and women is being constructed in Khuman Lampak Sports Complex currently.
Delivering the Presidential speech, Parliamentary Secretary M Prithviraj who is in charge of Youth Affairs and Sports, stated that the construction of the Multipurpose Indoor Stadium started with an amount of Rs 3.8 crores sanctioned by NEC in 2004 .
