Imphal, September 30 2016:
NSCN/GPRN has thanked the people of Senapati town for proving to the world once again that the Naga National movement is a mass based movement and a people's movement by democratically demonstrating the spirit of Naga nationalism.
In a statement, NSCN/ GPRN said that while the whole Nagas young and old across the length and breadth of Nagalim are longing and incessantly praying in support for peaceful and final solution to Indo-Naga conflict, it is highly condemnable to the adventurism of Maj Rahul and his boys of 35 Assam Rifles, Senapati Out post of Maram Battalion under Senapati Brigade who vitiated the peaceful atmosphere by detaining the Naga army officers while they were on a peaceful duty on September 28.The Naga army personnel have been identified as Captain PK Akas, Lieutenant Ashang Kashung and Cpl N Elvis.
Terming the Naga army who were on government official duties as extortionist and involving in nefarious activities is highly questionable, NSCN/GPRN said.
They were detained while they were on official duty monitoring law and order situation for peaceful maintenance against destructive elements who have from time to time created unwanted situations including threat to civilians such as bombing etc.
The three detained Naga army officers were never indulged in tax collection as falsely alleged by the Assam Rifles.
Instead the Assam Rifles should help create peaceful atmosphere to co-exist rather than creating unwanted problems and situations.
"On the part of NSCN, we are fully committed respecting new relationship being worked out between India and Nagalim.
Therefore, we strongly urged all concerned to be contributive in creating peaceful atmosphere", NSCN/GPRN said.
The NSCN strongly condemned the irresponsible act of 35 Asssam Rifles for flexing its muscle power with brute force where it was not necessary.
The broken legs and torturous marks all over the body was a clear indication of third degree torture.
There was no need for such treatment during ceasefire, NSCN/GPRN said.
NSCN extended sincere appreciation to all the people of Senapati, civil societies particularly Naga People's Organization, Senapati, Senapati District Women Association, Senapati District Students Association (and Senapati Karong Women Association for their timely intervention.
