Imphal, September 30 2016:
Sugnu Assembly Constituency MLA K Ranjit today handed over his MLA Local Area Development Fund to the people during a programme held at Kakching Khunou community hall, Umanglai Haraobung.
The programme was organised by Kakching Khunou Development Committee INC and was also attended by Kakching Municipal Council Chairperson K Babu and Kakching Khunou Municipal Council Vice Chairperson K Gojendra.
MLA K Ranjit said that almost 75 per cent of the amount of the Local Area Development Fund has been handed over to the people of Kakching Municipal Council residing in Ward No 1 to Ward No 9 in order to initiate developmental works in the area.
Remaining amount will be handed over to the people at the earliest.
The MLA also claimed that there has been growth and development in the area as expected.
However, some people with vested interest have been making unnecessary comments over the initiated works.
To deliberately overlook all the developmental initiatives and make unreasonable statements are unfortunate.
There is a regular supply of water for both drinking and irrigation purposes.
However, some people have alleged that there is lack of regular water supply in the area, he added.
Among the 60 Assembly Constituencies in the State, Sugnu AC is one of the ACs which has been actively participating in conserving environment.
Appealing to the people to utilise the fund properly, the MLA said people should continue to extend support and co-operation so that there is sustainable development in Sugnu Assembly Constituency.
Speaking on the need to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur, MLA K Ranjit said that all the people of the State are one.
Any attempt to divide the people and the territory integrity of the State is something everyone should condemn and oppose.
"I spoke against the NSCN-IM for trying to divide the State following which I was banned from entering in Naga inhabited areas.
I will not be afraid to resign from my post for the welfare of the people of the State.
A bomb exploded at Samuel Raisom's residence in Imphal and I was charged for it.
The allegation is completely absurd and absolutely false," the MLA said.
He went on to say that BJP should not be timid to raise its voice against those who are attempting to divide the people and the State.
BJP is, instead, trying to woo the people by making false allegations against the Congress party whenever they can.
If they really care for the people, they should raise people's concern on the framework agreement signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM to the Centre.
Commenting on the recent cancellation of DPC for Police Constables, the MLA said that he understands the grievances of the candidates.
In order to provide equal opportunities to all the intending candidates, fresh recruitment process was initiated.
"BJP MLAs launched an agitation against the cancellation of DPC.
They should have known that as an MLA, such act should not be done.
Students launching an agitation is another story.
BJP MLAs should have known their duties, adhered to the rules and sought Court's assistance.
That way, their agitation would have been meaningful and more or less successful," MLA K Ranjit said.
