Tripura Home Minister Manindra Reang hails Jananeta Hijam Irabot

Tripura Home Minister Manindra Reang today stated that Jananeta Hijam Irawat is the pioneer in several fields not only in Manipur but also in the entire North East Region and Indo-Myanmar region.
Speaking at the 120th birth anniversary programme of Jananeta Hijam Irawat organised by Irawat Celebration Committee at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, Tripura Home Minister Manindra Reang said that people of Tripura not only respect Jananeta Hijam Irawat and his works but also the cultures and traditions of Manipur.
Underlining the bond shared by the two States, Manindra Reang said that former Chief Minister of Tripura Dasarath Dev Burman during his tenure as an MP had recommended to include Manipuri language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
He also said that there are two Manipuri Councillors of Left Front in Agartala Municipal Corporation of which Corporator Prafuljit is the Mayor.
He further stated that Mayor Prafuljit also observed the birth anniversary today by unveiling a statue of Jananeta Hijam Irawat at Khwai Town, which is located around 55 kms away from Agartala.
The programme held at Palace Compound was also attended by veteran CPI leader M Ibohal and CPI Manipur State Council secretary Dr M Nara.
Continuing the programme, a march past competition was also held.
Awards distribution was further held.
P Parijat Award was presented to environmentalist and science columnist G Tomba Sharma, Thiyam Meghachandra Journalist Award was presented to ISTV chief editor Brojendra Ningomba, Thokchom Achouba Award was presented to Maibam Kadambini of All Manipur Nupi Marup, Hijam Achou Sinmee Award was presented to B Bonomali, Oja Nongthombam Iboton Teacher Award was presented to Mekola Gulap Higher Secondary Principal L Biren while Khagembam Gopal Award for Best Blood Donor was presented to Khundrakpam Premjit.
Kanglei Women's Society has also observed the 160th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Manipur Press Club.
A prize distribution programme for the State level patriotic song competition was also conducted.
As part of the 120th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot, All Brothers' Club, Kha Potshangbam Unit under the MLA Local Areas Development Fund has kicked off a three day tree plantation drive at Ima Nonga Leima premises.
The inaugural programme was also attended by Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Chief Secretary O Nabakishore Singh, Bishnupur SP Jogeshwor Haobijam, Joint Director of Vety Animal Husbandry Dr H Chaiba.
Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Kendra Clubs' Co- ordinating Committee (NPKCCC) today celebrated the 120th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Muhamadan Social Youth Club, Tarahei, Hiyangthang by distributing the 16th Naoriya Meritorious Award 2016 to meritorious students of HSLC and HSSLC exams 2016 .
NPKCCC is an apex body of 55 clubs located under Naoriya Assembly Constituency.
Speaking at the occasion,Meghachandra Kongbam, Director, IPR, Manipur urged the students to follow the path of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot.
He also appreciated NPKCCC for their relentless work in encouraging the students.
In the meantime, the 120th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot was also observed by the Manipuris settling in Bangladesh.
The observance was held at Irabot Complex, Vanubilda.
A rich floral tribute was also paid by the gathering to Lamyanba Hijam Irabot.
