Sit in protest held against killing of minor girl at Yairipok market

A sit-in protest organized by JAC and Joint Committee on People's Welfare Yairipok was held today at Yairipok market demanding befitting punishment to the person(s) involved in the killing of a minor girl from Chandrakhong Maning Leikai.
The protestors asserted that their protests will be continued till the demands of the JAC are not translated into action by the concerned authority adding that they will submit a demand letter to CM N Biren Singh regarding the matter.
Members of various clubs, organizations and meira paibis of Chandrakhong and Yairipok area reportedly took part in the sit-in protest in large numbers.
Speaking to the media persons, father of the minor girl sent out a strong message that he wants justice for his daugther and not monetary assistance and compensation.
Convenor of the JAC Sinam Phulenjit urged the authority concerned to come out with details whether the person(s) arrested by the police in connection with the murder are the actual perpetrators or not by April 2 and be given appropriate punishment if found guilty.
He further said that JAC will not claim the death body until and unless the State Govt acted on their demands at the earliest and appealed the authority concerned not to perform the last rites of the minor girl by declaring it unclaimed body.
He further cautioned the authority concerned that intense form of agitation will be launched with support of various CSOs, associations, organisation etc, if their demands are not met within the timeline (April 2) .
Meanwhile, Joint Committee On People's Welfare Yairipok, which is an apex body of 4 clubs of Yairipok areas, strongly condemned the killing of the minor girl and maintained that the committee will extend full support in any agitation initiated in connection with the killing.
