Assam Rifles Jawans at Kangpokpi DHQs got emotional when the local Nepali girls tied Rakhis on their wrists at 38 AR Post Kangpokpi DHQs here this morning.
Soldiers at the 38 AR Kangpokpi Post were seen very happy and excited and at the same time perplexed as the Raksha Bandhan ceremony being held today was probably the first of its kinds for the armed forces Jawans posted at Kangpokpi.
The event was organized by the local Nepali community with an aim to make the Jawans feel at home, who has missed their beloved sisters because of their duties, on this special occasion and to promote an the message of universal brotherhood and sisterhood.
During the function, the local Nepali community leader said the armed forces individuals are away from their family and beloved sisters because of their duties on this auspicious occasion and as goodwill gesture our girl volunteers tie Rakhis to the armed forces individuals to symbolize the unmatched bond of love, care and respect.
Around 15 girls tie Rakhis to the Assam Rifles Jawans at 38 AR Post Kangpokpi DHQs in the presence of Post Commander, Major Yogesh Shivalkar, who also missed his sister at Mumbai.
"Our Jawans are here to serve the country from different parts of India and to show our gratitude and make them feel at home on this special' occasion the Raksha Bandhan ceremony was held this morning", said the local Nepali leader.
Post Commander Major Yogesh Shivalkar said that it was a great step and I am personally very happy by the sweet gesture of the locals and we were touched by the good gesture while adding that we do not have words to express our happiness.
"The soldiers were very happy and some of them also cried and are consoled by others.
We miss our sisters during Rakhi as we fail to go to our hometowns due to our duty.
Few local girls tied Rakhi on our wrists this morning and we don't feel alone anymore.
We promised to protect them as brothers," said the Post Commander.
He also said that for us every individual in Kangpokpi are like a family member and we will protect them against all evils and no harms will ever happen to them till the time we are here while adding that we promised to be with them through thick and thin and we will be just one call away.
The Assam Rifles Jawans at 38 AR Kangpokpi Post serves sweets and eatables to the girls to express their happiness and gratitude.
