Imphal, August 26 2018:
CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam today claimed that Congress has been creating a restive situation in the State by churning out volumes of propaganda as if they genuinely care for the State but all their recent activities look like that have been canvassing for election.
He was speaking as chief guest at the 33rd foundation day of Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai Universal Club.
There would not be any one who wish to tear apart Manipur.
Yet there may be a group of people who have been stoking people's sentiment, Shyam said.
"We in the Government too love the State, and the Chief Minister has been shouldering immense responsibility to safeguard the integrity of Manipur and its boundary", he said.
There is no harm when CSOs launch mass movements in connection with different issues of the State.
But it is rather disheartening that a responsible political party like Congress has been misleading the masses thereby creating a restive situation, he decried.
Congress party has been speaking every single day on the same issue repeatedly.
Moreover, they have been making personal attacks against the Chief Minister.
The way Congress party has been speaking projects a picture of Manipur, already fragmented.
There is no force on earth which can disintegrate Manipur.
Xt the same time, all the people regardless of their ethnicity and political affiliations need to stand together with a firm conviction, he asserted.
He said that he has conveyed his non-negotiable position with regard to the integrity of Manipur to LJP Central leaders.
All the people's representatives should be ever prepared to safeguard the integrity of Manipur even to the extent of sacrificing their lives, if the situation demands, he said.
There is no question of the State Government overlooking the issue of integrity but the situation is such that no one should make any provocative statement, said the CAF&PD Minister.
Extension of Article 371A of the Indian Constitution needs a resolution of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, and it must be supported by two-third of the total Members of both the Houses, he continued.
This fact is known to Congress party but they have been misleading the masses.
If they intend to campaign for election, they may do so without confusing the people, Shyam said.
Universal Club president Anoubam Kula Sharma, Lilong Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Lamabam Lalmani and BJP Treasurer H Robin Blackie were also present at the gathering.
