Sensitisation programme on Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 held

The High Court-of Manipur in association with Manipur State Legal Services Authority organised a "Training/Sensitization Programme for Child Welfare Police Officers (CWPOs) and Special Juvenile Police Units (SJPUs) on Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015 & Rules" at the Auditorium, High Court of Manipuryesterday.
The training programme was inaugurated by Justice N Kotiswar Singh, Chairman, JJ Committee, High Court of Manipur -cum- Executive Chairman, MASLSA.
A Guneshwar Sharma, Registrar General, High Court of Manipur, RK Memcha Devi, Registrar (Judl), High Court of Manipur & i/c Member Secretary, MASLSA, Ojesh Mutum, i/c Addl Member Secretary, MASLSA also attended the programme.
The conference was participated by around 70 Child Welfare Police Officers (CWPOs) and Special Juvenile Police Units (SJPUs) from Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur Districts.
Justice N Kotiswar Singh, Chairman, JJ Committee, High Court of Manipur while giving inaugural speech expressed that there has been many developments & changes in the Juvenile Justice System.
Police officers dealing with juveniles need to be aware of Juvenile Justice Act & Rules as well as new developments in the system such as United Nations Guidelines, International Laws etc, he said and appealed the participants to share their experiences, views & suggestions for effective implementation of JJ System in the State.
N Brajakanta Singh, Lecturer, Manipur Judicial Academy, Th Ibethoi Devi, City Co-ordinator, Childline, Imphal & B Rishikesh Sharma, Inspector, NAB, Imphal West delivered lectures on the topic "Overview of JJ Act, 2015 & its Rules", "Role of Childline to Protect Child Rights" & "Role & difficulties faced by the Police in Effective Implementation of JJ Act, 2015 & its Rules" respectively.
Ojesh Mutum, i/c Addl Member Secretary, MASLSA also gave a lecture along with a PowerPoint presentation on functions & activities of Legal Services Institutions with special emphasis on NALSA (Child Friendly Legal Services to Children and their Protection) Scheme, 2015.A quiz programme was also conducted by Manipur State Legal Services Authority on topics relating Juveniles Justice Act & Rules.
